What takes place?

First of all, there is a preliminary consultation with the reflexologist  (therapist) before treatment.  The consultation will include general and specific questions about your past and present health and some questions on your current lifestyle.  All client information is kept private and confidential.  Any disclosures are only allowed at the request of the client.

The reflexologist will then, using their hands, do an overview of your feet which involves a lower leg and foot relaxation. The reflexologist then begins to work on the client's feet or hands, noting the problem areas.  The treatment is then usually finished with a short foot or hand massage.

There may be some discomfort in places on the feet or hands which is usually an indication of congestion or imbalance in a corresponding part of the body, but most of the time the sensation is pleasant and soothing. Reflexology / Zonterapi can help relax the client and is known to stimulate the body's own healing mechanisms.

A course of treatment varies in length depending on the client's needs. The reflexologist will discuss this with the patient at the first session.

After one or two treatments your body may respond in a very specific way. Most people note a sense of wellbeing, relaxation and feel energized. Sometimes people report having headaches, a desire to urinate more or have more bowel movement, feeling lethargic, nauseous or tearful. These responses are temporary and are all part of the healing process.
